Cycling building work in Asago City, Hyogo Prefecture. In this city, there is a cycling operator from South Africa who has established a cycling tour business called Asago Cycling and is involved in various activities. Over the past three years in Hyogo Prefecture, he has been developing his business by providing technical training for cycling guides and RIDAS tours, taking into account the sustainability of cycling in rural Japan and the economic contribution to the local community.
The concept is almost the same as that of RIDAS’s original Japanese cycling tour.
We would like to collaborate with them in the future.

This tour was designed to allow participants to feel the history of Koyasan with their whole body while using E-BIKE.
The tour was conducted with the support of Coffee Shirafuji, a local coffee shop, and Mr. Masanobu Takamichi, a university professor who is involved in activities rooted in the local community.
The third part of the Pacific Coast Bike Path location trip 3
Inoue, our CEO, photographs and writes the article “Nippon no Jitensha Tabi <Pacific Coast Bicycle Route>” for Cycle Sports Web.
This time. From Omaezaki to Hamanako
It was uploaded on Cycle Sports Web.
I didn’t know that there were such good roads in the theme park type cycling course.
Please take a look.
We gave a training session at a cycling guide workshop hosted by the Nakatsu Cycling Tourism Promotion Council in Oita Prefecture. Cycling operators and event patrol riders from the prefecture came to the workshop to learn about guiding and discuss how sustainable cycle tourism should be. The seriousness in everyone’s eyes made us feel very welcome.
This was my fourth visit to Yabakei in Nakatsu City, and as always, it was wonderful to see the beautiful original Japanese landscape.
And above all, the warm hospitality of everyone involved. Suehiroya, an old guesthouse for cyclists and inbound travelers located in the castle town of Nakatsu City, is an inn where you can stay as if you were living in the house. Cycling operators gather there as if at home, and conversations about cycling in Oita are held every day.
I was convinced that this is the starting point of a great cycling project.
Cycling tour was organized at Gakuonsen, located at the foot of Mt. Adatara in Fukushima Prefecture. This area was a cycling paradise.
You can create dozens of kilometers of routes without traffic lights, and arrive at a single destination by many different routes. Not only on paved roads, but also on gravel roads, singletrack, and various other surfaces.
This is a new activity that is about to be born here. I am really looking forward to it!
This month’s issue of Cycle Sports magazine featured a spread of RIDAS tours in its “Guided Tour Guide” feature. Of course, it is a guided tour on the old city street cycling, which is Lydas’ specialty.
The photos of RACE ACROSS AMERICA featured at the end of the magazine were taken by an American photographer who is a friend of mine.
Thank you very much, Editor-in-Chief Nakajima, Mr. Suzuki, and Mr. Sawada.
Jumbo Ferry and Shodoshima create cycle tourism
Take a cyclist-friendly ferry to Shodoshima.
Jumbo Ferry’s new vessel “Aoi” is a ferry with ideal facilities for cyclists. A dedicated elevator that allows cyclists to board with their bicycles still pushed along, dedicated booths for cyclists where they can hang their bikes on hangers while assembling them, special rooms where they can bring their bicycles into the cabin, reclining seats and private rooms for a fee, glass-walled bathrooms, footbaths, laundry facilities, etc. It is as if only cyclists are given special treatment. It seems as if they treat cyclists in a special way.
This time, I visited the island on business for Jumbo Ferry to create a product for an e-BIKE cycling tour of Shodoshima.
Remote islands are often suitable for cycling, but loading the bicycles onto the boat can be a certain stressful experience. Many of you may have experienced that you were already tired when you arrived at the island….
On the “Aoi,” there is no need to worry about that, and you will already feel a sense of satisfaction and elation from the moment you board the boat.
The biggest attraction on board is the daytime dive under the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge, the world’s largest suspension bridge. The deck of the ferry is high up, so it is very powerful. This bridge, which I often pass by in my daily work, looks different from the boat.
This time, we were also given a special tour of the wheelhouse, which was very impressive!
I love gauges and switches, so I was glued to the ship for a while.
The development of the tour on Shodoshima Island was a great opportunity for Lydus to make full use of its main concept of “cycling through the original landscapes of Japan.
Although I have visited Shodoshima many times, I was able to learn about its unknown charms.
Wakasaikuru” by Fukui Prefecture. The route is being brushed up in preparation for certification as a National Cycle Route.
Our company has been in charge of safety confirmation of the route.
All of our staff and contracted staff are currently certified cycling guides by the Japan Cycling Guide Association (JCGA).
Inoue, our representative, Atsumi, an operator, and Yamamoto, a contracted staff member, are also JCA-certified guides with instructor qualifications.
In this project, we are planning to conduct an actual ride, identify areas for improvement, and report back to you with a video.

In this installment, we again traveled along the old Tokaido Highway, passing through Yaizu and ending in Omaezaki, a place often mentioned in typhoons.

We met a lot of people, such as a wild boar hunter, a candy shop, a lady at a curry store, a nostalgic clown, a couple of cyclists returning from France, and so on.
And although not included in the report, we had a chaotic and fun time at a Taiwanese restaurant where five languages were spoken at dinner.
